Service & Training
I have spent 18 years of dedicated service to Monterey as a volunteer
Commissioner. During my time on the Parks and Recreation Commission,
I helped spearhead the development of the Recreation Trail, the
Sports Center and San Carlos Beach Park.
 As
a Planning Commissioner, I have reviewed numerous EIRs and
projects ranging from large development proposals and business use
permits to small house additions and enforcement issues.
During that service, I have developed good working relationships
with key city staff and understanding of the needs of our citizens,
business communities and our neighborhoods. As an original member
of the Old Town Neighborhood Association, and as its former
representative to the NIP Committee, I have a great appreciation
for this unique program and the quality it adds to our neighborhoods
and residents.
 Finally,
as a father of three children, all of whom attended public schools,
I have been frustrated by the limited assistance the City has provided
to our distressed schools. It is time we had a working parent of
public school children on the Council to advocate innovative ways
to help our neighborhood schools. |
